SYMMETRY. Rotation by 180 degrees. Turn this design upside down and David becomes Calma

INSPIRATION. For my uncle and aunt on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

STORY. For their 50th wedding anniversary, David and Calma Kim’s four children and their families assembled a special book of letters and memorabilia from friends and family. This was my contribution, along with a letter recalling memories.
 Most of this inversion works rather easily: the two D’s in David map nicely to the two A’s in Calma. The main trick was to get the C of CALMA to disappear in DAVID, which I partially rationalized by having the inverted C appear to be a flourish off the dot of the I.
